YAIP begins with a two-to-four week orientation, conducted by DYCD-funded community based organizations (CBOs), and followed by a 10-12-week paid internship that offers structured work opportunities incorporating ongoing education, as well as additional participant and employer support.

YAIP programs are located in community-based organizations in all five boroughs of New York City, and offer a range of placements in many industries, including construction, hospitality, healthcare, and retail.
