The Animation Project

The Animation Project’s mission is to nurture the social, emotional and cognitive growth of at-risk youth, using digital art technology as a therapeutic medium and a workforce development tool. TAP envisions a world where youth become creative and productive young adults. TAP believes that all youth should have equal access to information, people, and technology.

TAP’s integration of technology, social skill development, and creative arts therapy is premised on our belief that rehabilitative efforts that emphasize training and skill acquisition alone fail to address the fundamental psychological issues that transform proficiency into gainful employment. We provide youth with both a practical understanding of professional-level computer programs and the emotional capacity to lead a dedicated and successful professional life.

There are no short cuts to changing the lives of at-risk youth: extensive time, resources, and creative solutions are in order. TAP’s potential to effect lasting change depends on our ability to offer both opportunities for youth to re-create themselves and appropriate pathways for social inclusion.
