nyc_center_for_economic_opportunity_300x300Nearly three weeks left to apply! Funding available for community-based organizations (CBOs) serving:

  1. Expectant mothers and parents of children ages 0-4
  2. Out of school, out of work young adults ages 16-24 (sometimes referred to as “disconnected youth” or “opportunity youth”)
  3. Unemployed or underemployed working age adults ages 18 and over

The Mayor’s Fund to Advance NYC, with the assistance of CEO and the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, are seeking organizations for the Connections to Care (C2C) program, supported by the federal Social Innovation Fund. The program will evaluate how increasing capacity to provide mental health services can affect outcomes on indicators related to employment, education, and early-years development.  Proposals are due on October 19, 2015.

How could C2C help my organization?
Staff at organizations serving low-income communities often cite a need for increased mental health services, noting that mental health conditions prevent program participants from achieving their program goals.  Through C2C, your organization could receive funding to form a partnership with a licensed Mental Health Provider (MHP).  The MHP and your organization will create a plan for training your staff in non-clinical yet effective techniques for addressing common mental health conditions.  Envisioned as a five-year program, C2C will also provide funds for the MHP to support your staff with ongoing coaching and referral partnerships.

How can I identify a Mental Health Provider to partner with?
Reach out to hospitals, clinics, or practitioners in your community to discuss this opportunity.  Some MHP’s seeking a CBO partner have listed their contact information on the Mayor’s Fund website and their information can be found here.

How can I apply?
The Request for Proposals can be accessed here.

Do you have additional questions? Review the Connections to Care Q&A here and submit any unanswered questions to sif@cityhall.nyc.gov before October 8, 2015.
