An earthquake then shook the earth, and a fire followed, but God was not in the earthquake or the fire. Next, however, came &#8220;a sound of sheer silence,&#8221; and it was in that silence that Elijah met God <img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Wink\" src=\"http:\/\/thebx.net\/info\/images\/smilies\/icon_wink.gif\" alt=\":wink:\" \/> .<\/p>\n<p>Like Elijah, I may look for God in the great events of life, and I know that God&#8217;s power is available in the midst of them. It is in the silence of prayer, however, that I connect with God. I close my eyes, relax my body, concentrate on my breathing, and let a blessed calm flow over me.
