What should a Christian do in times of trials and adversity? If you study the Scriptures you are repeatedly shown the answer. In the book of Hebrews a great number of men and women believed the promises of God given to them. They were given supernatural strength to overcome obstacles impossible to ordinary men. Some conquered warriors, some killed lions, and others were empowered by God to endure what the strongest of men could not do.
Jesus told us what to do when everything in this world begins to unravel, because of the weight of sin, we are to, lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh‚ (Luke 21:28). In a time of adversity King David did this and encouraged himself in the Lord (1 Samuel 30:6). We see the same with Daniel, he looked up to the Lord when he was cast into the den of the lions (Daniel 6:10‚¬“11).
If you are burdened and cannot find the power to do this simple act of faith, ask the Holy Spirit to help you right now. Psalms 3:3, describes God as, my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.‚ Be encouraged, Jesus loves YOU. You will gladden His heart as you allow Him to lift up your countenance; His love for you is the first thing that you will see.
