I recently engaged in an online discussion with a Muslim. He argued that Mark’s Gospel is the earliest written and as such Jesus is a fully human non-divine figure. By the time we get to John (what he reckoned was the latest written Gospel), only then is Jesus understood as God incarnate. In other words, his argument was that there’s a progression in time with the belief of Jesus’ divinity.
