Researches at the Office of Postsecondary Education (OPE) analyzed the data of crime reports at U.S. colleges to come up with a list of the top 25 most dangerous colleges. These were four-year universities with the highest rate of alleged and criminal offenses (per 1,000 students).

- Plymouth State University, Plymouth, NH – 143/27.8
- Winston-Salem State University, Winston-Salem, NC – 148/27.6
