Latinas In Control was founded by Ebony “Dulce” Perez. Our mission is to keep our youth off the streets by doing something they enjoy – dancing. At Latinas In Control our children are taught how to dance merengue, hip-hop, salsa, etc. Building self-esteem in our youth while providing guidance and assistance is our goal. We are proud Puerto Ricans introducing our culture to others around the world!
The boys and girls that participate in Latinas In Control are from 9 to 21-years-old. In addition to dancing, our group participants learn to get along with others and work as a team. We dance at various events: baby showers, festivals, sweet-sixteens, we even participate in the Puerto Rican Day Parade!
Latinas In Control is a non-profit organization so we count on the support of our community to get uniforms, and for transportation to the events we participate in. We do not charge parents for their kid’s outfits but we do ask all group members to join in our fund-raising activities (bake-sales, etc).
