Teen Programming at THE POINT CDC promotes active healing and is mission-driven, transformative, asset-based, leadership bound, and safe and caring. Young adults from 13-24 years old can register for one or multiple free workshops throughout the year leading towards college and professional careers in the arts, activism, education and more.

A collaborative program with the International Center of Photography, ICP at THE POINT teaches the fundamentals of black-and-white photography. Social Circus
Social Circus workshops in collaboration with Cirque du Soleil offer young people from 13 years and up an opportunity to learn a variety of circus disciplines including aerial, juggling, acrobatics, clowning and more, while building valuable life skills! Visual Arts
Painting, drawing, and mural arts. The overall theme of this year’s workshops is climate change, however these salon style meetings of artists of all ages ( 13 and over ) support individual vision and professional development, in an atmosphere where older seasoned artists share their experiences with the younger. We will kick off the season with silk painting. Artists participate in ongoing mural projects, exhibitions at THE POINT and beyond.

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! This exciting program for young teens offers cut-edge theater productions by partnering with professional theater actors! We meet Wednesday evenings from 7-10 for scene study and production rehearsals. Our plays are shown to the community and at schools in the Tri-State area. Some of our past students’ recent television and film work include: Ice Age: Continental Drift, Happy Feet. Monster House, City of Ember, Wonderland, Factory Girl, Remember The Titans, Sky High, Shark Bait, Gilmore Girls, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Bones. Teen Advocacy
A.C.T.I.O.N. (Activists Coming To Inform Our Neighborhood)
A.C.T.I.O.N. engages 20 stipended youth activists three times per week who work to identify social and environmental justice issues facing the Hunts Point community. Participants create and manage campaigns with the goals of developing ongoing youth-led solutions.
From September through June, and during the summer.

W.O.M.E.N. (Where Our Minds Empower Needs)
W.O.M.E.N. young women’s leadership program combines sex education with the Arts, bridging the gap between how information is learned and retained. Workshops include healing circles, LGBTQ sex education workshops, creative writing classes and more! Women identified youth of all cultural backgrounds who wish to empower themselves and their community are encouraged to join. Dinner and train pass provided.

Men’s group is a young men’s empowerment group that addresses the health and social issues facing male-identified youth in the South Bronx. As an important step to preparing job readiness and improving access to higher education, THE POINT provides internship opportunities for teens. Students can intern in all areas of THE POINT’s programs including:
A.C.T.I.O.N. Summer Internship
THE POINT’s teen community leadership group A.C.T.I.O.N. (Activists Coming to Inform Our Neighborhood) engages ten stipend teen activists throughout the summer months to continue the group’s social and environmental justice campaigns. A.C.T.I.O.N. also works to connect teens with summer internship opportunities outside THE POINT!

Theatre Apprenticeship

Summer Youth Leadership
Teens have the opportunity to learn leadership, teamwork, mentoring and first aid skills and help staff THE POINT’s Summer Youth Programs as junior counselors and activity specialists through this program. Summer Youth Leaders are comprised of teens from the community and the Department of Youth and Community Development’s Summer Youth Employment Program.
