The Dongan Hills Branch of The New York Public Library, which occupied a rented storefront on Richmond Road from 1957 to 1974, moved to its present location in the spring of 1975.
A modern, air-conditioned, one-story branch, Dongan Hills houses nearly 45,000 books, periodicals, CDs, DVDs, and other materials. In 2008, the branch was renovated with new carpeting, a beautiful children’s room with a separate preschool area, and 10 computers. A stage was built in the middle of the children’s room where library events for all ages are held.
